About Ireen Ninonuevo

You’ve probably heard that you don’t choose your calling - it chooses you! I’m a trauma-specialized coach because it chose me.

I’ve been a trauma-focused counselor since 2002 and I love it.

BUT I’m limited to the states I’m licensed in. As a counselor, I can help only people in New York, New Jersey, and Florida - but as a coach, my reach is everywhere. Why does that matter?

Trauma and abuse happens everywhere. As a coach, I offer an integrative approach.

I offer support and guidance to people who experienced the pain of being stuck in the past because their bodies and minds react to the present as if there’s still danger. I work with the body to release the trauma that’s still there, and by using simple but powerful tools, I’ve guided people to experience having more safety and trust within their own bodies.

There’s also the important step of identifying, understanding, and working with your Parts. Everyone has Parts, but when some Parts emerge from scary, life changing, or toxic periods of life, they tend to take over and unwittingly bring challenges into your relationships and choices.

There’s a very good reason why people say, “I don’t know why I did that!” Well, that was a hurt Part being dominant. I help people figure out what those Parts need so that they can settle down and allow more helpful Parts to be more prominent.

As someone whose background is in the arts...

I use creative approaches to help people work through what’s difficult to say in words.

Creativity is healing, but when paired with a trauma-focused approach, it can be even more so. The arts activate other areas of the brain because it’s sensory based. From what we know about trauma, we’re aware that it affects our senses. The more helpful sensory stuff we can give our nervous system, the better off we are.

I’ve also found, over and over again, that giving people education about what they’re going through is an effective way to tame the shame. As a neuro nerd - someone who loves learning and sharing helpful information about neuroscience and the nervous system - I’m very much into helping people understand that their bodies and brains react to things because they're set up to be that way. And yet, if we tap into their other inherent mechanisms, then the body and mind can recover from trauma.

People I support also learn how to recognize when they’re experiencing trauma responses versus having a helpful gut response. It can be confusing for people who were raised in a way that invalidated their gut responses, and I help my clients see the difference between trauma triggers and gut responses.

I’ve supported people who experienced childhood trauma, relationship abuse, medical trauma, and narcissistic abuse. If you’ve experienced trauma or abuse, you’re in the right place. Working with me can put you in a better path.

It’s time to make the call.
